the revolution is now

a dragon is roaring
and flames burning
inside the heart
many start to see clear
millennia of sickened blindness
now coming to an end
selfish deceit
countered with smiles of compassion
once the dragon stood strong
but too much power corrupts
and now the violent deafness survives

unquestioned riches
but the people are waking up
and some have found their sword of power
in union they stand with each other
becoming stronger than before
exploiting all the weaknesses of the beast
until the final blow
man against the machine they once created
their masters they once allowed
now their shackles are corroded
and ready to break
an anonymous horde
leaderless
moving forward by ideas and expectations
union in heart and soul
though divided by many
no longer seeing the divisions set in place
the dragon slowly moves back
chased with a rage of doom
their tyrannical reign is coming to an end
by the ways they have never expected
union of mankind
differences set aside for the cause

By coincidence I got to see this place. Creepy, desolate, trashed.
There was a foul feeling hanging at this place the entire time I was there, the wind seemed colder and harder.
Something was watching. All windows were smashed to pieces.
And a strange, I would say neurotic usage of tires. Everywhere you look there are tires, tires as a fence, tires under an old car, on a roof, under a rooftop,...
A bathtub, digged in the ground with stones at one side.
The whole place felt morbid in the silence surrounding it.

In front of the church you can see this statue with names of soldiers and citizens. I found this image strongly representing this dreadful war. But from behind it became even stronger; As if the statue warns the city for the coming troops. A desperate fight with wins and lots of losses.

Passchendale, another black page of this war. Dark clouds overhead, some rain, strong winds and silence. It makes one silent and think about the meaningless loss.
Watching the environment you can understand the strategic importance of this region.

this afternoon I went visiting some sites remembering the first worldwar. I decided to finally visit the pool of peace.
this hill was undermined because it couldn't be captured. Storming it, bombing it it just didn't work. The gigantic explosions following were felt far off the site.
Standing there, walking around the site gave me a strange feeling. Cold and sad. It seemed as if the trees stood watching, as recalling the past and remembering the fallen soldiers of both sides.
The silence was vast. Only to be broken by some kids playing but they soon left.
Then an old mercedes pulled over. A father and his daughter came over and sat down, looking at the site total silence. The little girl started asking what this was, how it came like this. The father patiently explained it.
When the girl was satisfied with the answers, silence fell again, as a blanket shutting the outer world out. In a way it felt like going back into the past.
I found it a great experience and will return, maybe on a rainy or snowy day just to feel the place and it's history again!

thunderbird 3.0.6 pre1 problem

Today I ran into a problem which didn't let me delete or move files to trash. Searching the net didn't gave me the right answer that's why I put it here. Before fiddling with all sorts of solutions just look at the trash file in the local folder of your thunderbird mail folder. The owner was changed to root, that's why I could no longer use the folder. Just give it the right owner and restart thunderbird. Prblem fixed!

als de hersenspinsel naar bovenkomen moet er gesponnen worden.

een kort stukje:

Een eerste zonnestraal baande zich een weg door een kier in het gordijn, een langzaam pad
verlichtend doorheen een stoffige wereld.
Een grimmig gezicht draait zich morrend weg. Zelfs doorheen de lakens vindt die zonnestraal een
verwarmend pad.
Zuchtend, puffend staat hij op en begint dan maar aan de dag, zoals het dag na dag verloopt. Een
cyclus die ooit zal stoppen als een van zijn taken niet meer vervuld wordt.
Hij gaat door het deurgat en ziet een wazige blik naar hem staren. Een uitdagend gezicht maar dan
beseft hij dat hij een spiegel stond uit te dagen. Een kraan ijskoud water verjaagt de laatste slaap en
laat hem zijn eigen beeld weer scherp zien. Warm water laat het dan weer verdwijnen in een
verbuiging van reflecties.
Langzaam wrijft hij de spiegel weer droog en kan zichzelf scheren. Zoals elke morgen lijkt hij het
gezicht in de spiegel weer te zien grijnzen waarop hij even gemeen terug grijnst. Die spiegels, hij
moest er weinig van weten, vormden een dagelijkse nachtmerrie. Een confrontatie met zichzelf en
door zijn spiegelbeeld in gedachten andere dingen te laten doen zag hij ook hoe zijn karakter steeds
opstandig bleef.
Na wat teveel aftershave op zijn gezicht te klutsen, veegt hij de rest af met een handdoek, gooit die
terug op het rekje en gaat weer weg. Hij merkt niet dat het spiegelbeeld achter hem steeds kleiner
wordend, hem weer aangrijnst. In zijn gedachten ziet hij het wel gebeuren, slijmerige tentakels,
dode takken, scheefgezakte gebouwen als rotte tanden in de achtergrond. In zijn verbeelding heeft
hij een nieuwe wereld geschapen achter die spiegel. Hoewel hij nu terugkeert en zich ervan
vergewist dat zijn vinger niet door het glas kan, zoals elke morgen, kan hij het toch niet van zich
afschudden.
De rest van de dag verloopt zoals altijd, het huis uit, de trein op, werken, terug naar de trein, de deur
achter zich dichtslaan en achterover leunen in de zetel.
Een douche leek hem wel aangenaam en terwijl hij het water alvast liet stromen bedampte de
spiegel weer, hij kon niets meer zien van zichzelf buiten de verbogen kleuren en vormen.
Door een niet bedampt, onbeduidend, bijna onzichtbaar plekje had hij, als hij goed gekeken had,
een oog hem kunnen zien aanstaren. Knipperend als een gezonde hartslag. Omgeven door een angst
die niet te beschrijven is.
De zorgen van de dag stroomden van hem af en hij stak, wat hij overigens zelden doet, af in een
gezang. Weliswaar ongezond voor mens en dier om dit te blijven aanhoren maar het onderstreepte
zijn goeie dag en niets zou hem ervan af brengen.

weer beginnen schrijven

Jarenlang zwoegde ik om mijn geest helder te houden. Jarenlang bleven deze
bladzijden leeg.
Leeg als de ziel die in mij huist. Leeggezogen door de gebeurtenissen die ik zal
proberen te vertellen. Nog steeds onbegrijpbaar ook voor mijzelf.
Gebroken en duister spoken gedachte diep in mij rond, onsamenhangend,
gedeeltelijk vergeten herinneringen. Vergeten tot de waakzame barrière die ik
jarenlang in mijn hoofd opgebouwd heb valt. Wat dan bovenkomt, verwerkt tot de
begrijpbare gruwel die gewone mensen kunnen voorstellen. En toch kan niets van
deze aarde of de meest duistere geesten die haar bewonen de echte gruwel
beschrijven laat staan uitbeelden. Geen vertekening van de realiteit door een of
andere kronkel in de hersenen, geen vervorming door geestesveruimende
middelen. Geen enkele gruwel door de natuur voortgebracht kan de gekte voeden
die zo diep inslaat als wat mij overkomen is. Zo helder gruwelijk, zo realistisch.
De normaalheid van deze abnormale gebeurtenissen grijpen niet enkel naar je
strot maar snijden die open en rukken alle ingewanden levend uit je lichaam.
En toch kunnen mijn woorden niet bevatten, neen zelfs niet uitleggen wat ik nu,
helder van geest, aan dit papier toevertrouw.
De duisternis rondom mij wordt drukkender en de gruwel binnenin begint zijn
slotoffensief om mij te breken.
Een einde die velen in mijn plaats enkel maar zouden versneld hebben. Nu pas
voel ik hoe zwakte mijn wil vervormt en hoe ik niet langer weerstand kan blijven
bieden.

learning to work with light, very difficult but on the other hand very pleasing to get the images you want. So I went on a try and it what i got whas rather good. I should add a little more light in the background to make the dark shirt get a bit more floating above the dark background.

i visited this german cemetary. Soldiers of the great war their names are engraved into the stones. Soldiers long since dead but still remembered, someone must have put those flowers at that spot.

Ons Ilse wilde wel voor mijn lens staan in dit toch wel belgisch weertje en zo zijn we tot dit resultaat gekomen.
Nu volgt nog het werk van sorteren, opkuisen en naar mijn idee uitwerken.

while working in my house it started raining so I thought it would be a good time to try out some pictures again.
The result is a lot of rubbish but also a couple of pictures I like.
These are two of them, a rain drip exploding on the ground a bit symbolic for the Palestinian massacre by Israel.
And the other one is the evening touching the world with a dark blanket.
